Splash of color

My mom made Amelia a ton of adorable knit hats and booties! We got them in the mail today! Here is her first hat and bootie set! I am obsessed!! She is even cuter in person!

So cute!

Ready to brave the cold!
She looks so much like my mom in this picture!

Thanks Nana Jane!

Love, Millie Jane!

hair

This is Amelia's hair! Usually in pictures, she looks bald or close to it. She has a lot of hair that is over an inch long in some areas (like her neckline) but she has a bit of an old man reseeding hairline in the front. It's okay, she rocks the mullet! I can't wait until her hair fills in more and grows out! I hope it stays this color!! It is a very warm brown! I just hope she has more wave to her hair than both Jordan and I have!!

A little about Amelia...my ONE MONTH OLD!

One month old?? Really?? Such a grown up and mature young woman!

Amelia's stats:

Weight: 8 lbs 5 oz
Length: 21 in

She is generally the most content little baby! She is just fine hanging out with us. She has had a little grumpy phase recently in the evenings, but I think she is getting over it.

She sleeps for 4 to 5 hours after I put her down at night, then sleeps another 4 or 5 hours after eating. She prefers to sleep in our bed and if she wakes up in her bed, she freaks out. She peeks a lot to see if we are still there.

She generally doesn't fuss unless she is hungry. Sometimes that hunger hits suddenly and she is STARVING and will let you know!!

Jordan is her favorite person in the world! She will find him in the room as soon as he starts talking and if she is unhappy, he makes her calm down so quickly.

She fits perfectly in her newborn clothes and her 0-3 month clothes are finally not super ridiculously big. She has the longest, skinniest feet...well everything about her is long and skinny, really!!

She loves to be in her car seat and really loves to be in the car!

She smiles a lot in her sleep and has been really close to a real smile while awake!

Bath time is the most relaxing thing in the world! She lays back and kicks her feet up and hangs out in there for as long as we let her... really like 20 minutes! She can be screaming but when she gets in the water, she is so calm!

Jordan calls her little girl 90% of the time. I call her Millie or Amelia and my new fave is Mills. My mom calls her Millie Jane. She may never know her name!

I love being her mom! She brings me so much joy and I just want to show her off to everyone! I can't wait to go to CA so everyone can meet her!

My old roommate Sydney made her this adorable quilt!
so cute
Her legs look like an American Girl doll's legs!!

THE story.

I am sure most of you have heard at least most of the birth story, but it is pretty cool so I will tell it again. Jordan told me for weeks that I could have the baby anytime except Saturday the 15th at night because that was the BYU vs Utah game! So, of course, a quarter into the game (at about 9 or 10pm), my water broke. I had been having contractions for a week but I couldn't feel them! The doctors were shocked at my appointments that the contractions were less than 5 mins apart and I was dilated to a 2 but I couldn't feel anything! After my water broke, I was still barely feeling anything but we left for the hospital. Fast forward an hour or two...contractions are almost constant and they hurt soooooo bad. I wanted to see if I could do it natural and with contractions that strong and constant, I was sure I had almost done it. I was at a 2.5. I got an epidural and got a little sleep and at 8, it was time to get this cute baby out!!  She was born at 9:38am, 7lbs 14 oz and 21 in long. She came out crying (I imagine that would give you a huge headache!) I had a great support team of my mom and Jordan who forgave me for being rude a few times! We stayed in the hospital for two days in our own huge private suite! It was like a hotel room more than a hospital! I had some really nice nurses and being in a hospital at night is the worst. Add a newborn and a first time mom and I really had no sleep at all!!
It is amazing how quickly you forget the pain and the sleep deprivation and I would do it all over again 10 times for my sweet baby Amelia.
